Job Description

Economic & Financial Policy Research

  • Monitor and analyze China's macroeconomic trends, financial regulations, and trade policies.
  • Provide in-depth reports on economic opportunities, risks, and bilateral cooperation prospects.



Strategic Planning

  • Contribute to the embassy's 1-year and 5-year strategic plans in economic and financial engagement.
  • Offer policy recommendations to support national interests and regional economic diplomacy.



Government & Institutional Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with Chinese government agencies, financial institutions, think tanks, and academic bodies.
  • Represent the embassy at economic forums, policy briefings, and academic conferences.



Intelligence & Reporting

  • Deliver regular briefings and analytical reports on economic and financial developments.
  • Collaborate with other embassy departments to ensure cohesive understanding of China's economic landscape.



Regional & Sectoral Insight

  • Provide localized insights into regional economic dynamics across China.
  • Identify emerging sectors and technologies relevant to bilateral cooperation.

The Successful Applicant

  • Education: PhD preferred; Master's degree required in Economics, Finance, International Relations, or related fields
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years in economic research, policy analysis, or international economic affairs
    • Experience in diplomatic, academic, or multinational corporate settings is a plus
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and writing skills
    • Excellent communication in English and Mandarin
    • Familiarity with China's economic governance and financial system
  • Attributes:
    • Professional demeanor and cultural sensitivity
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diplomatic environment
